The United Nations holds its next conference on water in the Gulf. The UN 2026 Water Conference meets at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi from Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 December 2026, co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal, to review progress on Sustainable Development Goal 6: clean water and sanitation for all. It follows the 2023 conference in New York.
Six dialogues
The conference is built around six interactive dialogues, two a day. 8 December: cooperation, and water for prosperity. 9 December: investments, and water for people. 10 December: water for the planet, and the multilateral processes that govern it.

Member states, the UN system and stakeholders registered through the conference page. The deadline for stakeholder registration is 6 November 2026 at 23:59 New York time; for UN system entities it is 13 November.
Around it
It opens less than three weeks after COP31 in Antalya closes, and ADNEC hosts Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week a month later.
For a Gulf audience the subject is not abstract. The UAE draws most of its drinking water from desalination, so the questions the dialogues on investment and the planet will press, energy per cubic metre and what happens to the brine, are the local ones. If you are an NGO or company that wants to be in the room, the date that matters is 6 November, not 8 December.
